‘Creepy’ moment: Benidorm hotel receptionist ‘sneaks into British mum’s room to sniff and steal her underwear’ after she sets up a hidden camera

This is the shocking moment a Benidorm hotel receptionist sneaked into a British mother’s room, installed a hidden camera and allegedly stole her underwear.

Lara Armstrong, from Gloucester, was on a family holiday to Benidorm in Spain with her 11-year-old son when she felt “creepy” when a hotel staff member asked for her phone number and invited her out for coffee.

The man then left a bottle of Prosecco in her room “as an apology”. So she decided to set her son’s iPad to open the door while she ate with him, in case he came into the room again.

In a “surreal” twist, the video shows the receptionist entering the room and rummaging through what Armstrong describes as a dirty laundry bag.

 The footage also shows a man dressed in a neat shirt and trousers removing what appears to be a thong from the bag, smelling it and putting the garment in his back pocket.

 Lara Armstrong, from Gloucester (pictured on holiday), went on a family trip to Benidorm in Spain with her 11-year-old son, and said she felt uncomfortable when a staff member there asked for her phone number and invited her in for a coffee.

The footage shows a man, dressed in a shirt and trousers, removing what appears to be a thong from his bag (left), smelling it (right) before putting the garment in his back pocket. “I felt really hurt. I was there with my son and the man was supposed to be a “member of staff”, Ms Armstrong said.

Speaking of the “surreal” moment she filmed while on holiday in May, she added: “I wasn’t expecting that.”

 The mother-of-one said she met the man on her first day when she went to the hotel reception to ask why her room key wasn’t working.

He then invited her out for coffee and, when she declined, she claims he asked for her phone number instead.

“I felt a little uncomfortable and thought, ‘I’m just here, this is the last thing I need,'” she said.

“But I didn’t complain because I didn’t want to ruin my holiday in the first place.”

After adamantly refusing to let the man go, Armstrong discovered he’d signed up for her OnlyFans account a few hours later. She suspects he used her hotel booking information to track her.

She said: “He texted me and said, ‘I can’t believe you’re in Spain’ – I didn’t realise it was him at first.

“I said, ‘Oh have you seen me at the airport or somewhere?’ and he said, ‘Oh, I’m at the hotel where I work’ – and I thought, ‘Oh my God’ – he looked me up online.

“I said, ‘This is really uncomfortable and really unprofessional. I’m here with my son and this is unacceptable’ – and he was like, ‘Oh I’m so sorry, please don’t tell anyone’.” I said, “I don’t, but leave me alone.”

She claims that after the employee yelled at him to ask her out, he found her too “sexy”.

When she returned from dinner on her last night to find a bottle of Prosecco in her room, Ms Armstrong decided to set up her son’s iPad to film the door opening in case he returned.

Ms Armstrong wrote to the man on OnlyFans to confirm that it was him who delivered the package, to which he allegedly replied, “Sorry to upset you”.

After filming him coming into her room and snooping around, she said she was angry with herself for not reporting his “inappropriate” behaviour on the first day.

She took her son to the reception of a nearby hotel, where staff said they would arrange a new room for her and her son for the last night of their holiday before returning to England the next day.

The man appears to have put the suspect thong in his pocket before leaving Armstrong’s hotel room.

After filming Armstrong entering the room and snooping around, Armstrong said she was upset that staff had behaved “inappropriately” and not reported her when he asked her out on a date on the first day.

Love Holidays, the company she booked her holiday with, apologised for her ordeal and claimed the hotel fired the man immediately the morning after she reported it to staff.

But the hotel refused to refund or compensate her for her holiday because she had not reported the incident to the hotel or police before returning home.

Ms Armstrong claims she failed to report the incident to police as it happened on the last day of her trip and she did not want to miss her flight.

Ms Armstrong has not been able to report the incident to police in Spain since returning to the UK. She said the hotel would not refund her stay or offer any compensation because no police report was made.

Armstrong also claims the hotel asked her to call the police but they didn’t, instead asking her not to show the video to anyone.”It’s been a nightmare trying to get justice,” she said.

Now she wants to warn other women to report “sissies” straight away and maybe even install cameras if they think something is wrong.

Ms Armstrong said: “If anyone is acting creepy, report it straight away. Maybe get a door lock or something.

“And then maybe monitor the rooms too, that way there’s evidence and the hotel can’t deny it happened.”

The hotel declined to comment.

LoveHolidays explained that as Ms Armstrong did not report the incident whilst on holiday it did not have the opportunity to support her at the time or advise her how to report the incident to the police.

They said LoveHolidays would not be offering compensation for this reason.

A LoveHolidays spokesperson said: “We are extremely sorry about the experience Ms Armstrong went through whilst on holiday.

Unfortunately we were not informed about the incident whilst she was on holiday and were therefore unable to offer her any support or advice in reporting the incident to the police during her stay.

 We have thoroughly investigated the issue at the hotel and are confident that appropriate action has been taken to ensure something like this does not happen again.”
