Toke Makinwa Biography: Toke Makinwa was Born 3 November 1984,she is a Nigerian radio presenter, television presenter, vlogger, lifestyle entrepreneur, actress and author. Toke is known for hosting the Late Morning Show on Rhythm 93.7 FM and her YouTube vlog series Toke Moments. She published her book, On Becoming, in November 2016. She is one of the top five show presenters in Africa.

Toke was born in Onikan`s St. Nicholas Hospital as the second child of her parent’s four children including Busayo Makinwa and Ope Makinwa. She grew up outside Lagos but had to move to Lagos when her parents died and was raised by foster parents, Mr. and Mrs.Akinyelure. Toke had her secondary education at Federal Government College of Oyo State. She graduated from the University of Lagos where she majored in English Language and Literature.

Makinwa first job was with Zenith Bank. It was clear that her parents were very happy that she had chosen this path. After a while, she decided to try her luck and move into the mass media industry. It was her dream to become a media personality! Toke Makinwa was not willing to give up so easily. She began her on-air career in 1999 with Cool FM. However, this was not her first success. In 2010, she co-hosted a beauty pageant for the most beautiful girl in Nigeria. She rose to fame with Rhythm 93.7 FM’s “Rhythms of the Night”.After her initial success on radio and online, Toke co-hosted 3LiveChick with Oleka Godis and Tosin Buckner. The show expanded to terrestrial television channels in 2012. The show featured many Nigerian celebrities such as Bez, Tonto Dikeh, Tiwa Savage, etc. Toke’s photos appeared on the covers of Modemen and EM magazines. Despite this, she refused to return for season two of the show.

She lost both her parents in a gas explosion when she was 8 years old.On January 15th, 2014, Toke got married to Maje Ayida in a private ceremony. However, the couple separated in 2015 after it was disclosed that Maje Ayida impregnated his ex-girlfriend. On October 5th, 2017, the marriage was dissolved by an Igbosere High Court in Lagos on the grounds that Ayida committed adultery.At the end of Big Brother Naija season 6, which she served as a host, she disclosed that she had lost her elder sister. In March 2022, she suggested that anyone doubting her claim to fame should research about her achievements using Google.

She also signed a multi-million naira deal with Nestle Nigeria to be the new face of Maggi. In 2016, she became a brand ambassador and the face of Meclane cosmetics. She was also an ambassador for Payport and Ciroc. In November 2019, Toke signed an endorsement deal with Oppo Mobile Telecommunications as a brand ambassador. In 2021, Toke signed a sponsorship deal with Showmax Naija as the host of BBN Season 6 “The Buzz”.
