Ezinne Kalu Biography: Ezinne Kalu, a talented basketball player was born in the year June 26th , 1992 in Newark, New Jersey, to a family with a rich cultural heritage. Her mother, Gwendolyn Covington, was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, and instilled in Ezinne the values of hard work and determination. Her father, Joseph Kalu, hails from Nigeria, Mbaise area of Imo State, Nigeria. Despite being born in the United States, she has strong ties to her Nigerian roots and has spoken fondly of her heritage and culture.

 

Ezinne’s passion for basketball was evident from an early age, and she honed her skills at Science Park High School in Newark, New Jersey. During her time at Science Park, she achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first female player in the school’s history to score over 2,000 points. This outstanding achievement was recognized when her jersey was retired in December 2017, a testament to her dedication and talent.

She graduated from Science Park High School in 2010, and her academic and athletic prowess earned her a full scholarship to Savannah State University, a historically black college or university (HBCU) in Savannah, Georgia. At SSU, she continued to excel on the court, leading her team to their first-ever MEAC Championship title in 2015. Her impressive career was marked by another historic achievement, as she became the first player in the university’s history to score over 2,000 career points.

 

 

Ezinne Kalu Career

After completing her college basketball career at Savannah State, Ezinne Kalu embarked on a successful international professional journey. She spent two seasons in Portugal, playing for Clube Desportivo Torres Novas (2015) and Olivais Coimbra (2016), showcasing her skills with impressive statistics.

She then moved to Hungary, joining Vasas Akademia for the 2017 season, before signing with German club Keltern in 2018. Her contributions helped Keltern reach the German Championship final.

 

She joined French side Landerneau BB in 2019, where she excelled with notable averages in the 2019-2020 season. Her achievements include:
